I couldn't read the article - what did Paula or Sandra do now?
Sratch that. I just heard the audio. Wow, is all I can say. Term limits for city councillors, anyone?

It's better on youtube:

It must have been a tough day at the office for Paula.
Wish I had heard his question. Based on the way Paula started, it sounds like he wants deeper cuts made to the arts. He was pretty fast off the mark with asking if she was planning to run for reelection in November: throwing something out like that is definitely trying to push buttons. It's so easy to say "cut costs." But, as he admitted with daycare, he doesn't know what it costs, and probably doesn't care. He just wants cuts made. He's just there to push buttons.
Sorry, I'm not going to condemn Paula Fletcher for reacting.
as I said and as I maintain, UNACCEPTABLE on any level from an elected politician.
I was actually with her until the 3:10 mark, at which point she unfortunately lost any and all credibility for her entire line of questioning.
That was horrible
She was helping to take the Eastern Avenue site off the list of recommended sites.

Unacceptable; there's no excuse for an elected official to berate and bully this individual, no excuse whatsoever. Paula Fletcher appears to have forgotten that the residents of Toronto elect all councillors and as such we are owed due respect whether or not a councillor agrees or disagrees with a particular question. That scene we witnessed today reminds us of the antics by a certain cabinet minister in P.E.I. and that of a certain Mississauga councillor. Both equally disgusting, and with total disrespect and disdain. This is unacceptable and furthermore, I hope we don't re elect Paula Fletcher as councillor.

If Paula Fletcher had only been this vocal and opposed to the Ashbridges Bay TTC yard, the future would be a lot better for the residents on Leslie Street. Where was Paula then?
Pat you yourself made it clear, that while this site was being considered, it is held privately, and that the cost, and more likely Rose Corp/Smart Centres( who own the property would not allow anything to be done with it ) It was not going to happen. It had nothing to do with Paula's intervening. I think more likely it was her hope when she divided this community over the Walmart Issue that it would become the site, and she would be the saviour for the TTC. I think even the final report from the Municipal Board after hearing all of the evidence, suggested that the Concillors motives were political in nature. All of this speculation because the chances of getting an honest answer from a politician is nearly if not impossible.

Hey, Gary -- lots of speculation there. I do know I saw Paula (and Sandra) at one of the Jimmy Simpson centre meetings last June, and that she stated she was opposed to the Eastern Ave. site. I also wouldn't lay the activism against SmartCentres at her feet: while she, Peter Tabuns, and Jack Layton helped out, that was a community based and driven initiative by the East Toronto Community Coalition. Yes, I attended a number of those meetings, and yes, I contributed to it financially.
...pat.

As I said,it can't be anything but speculation, and yes you are correct the initiative wasn't solely hers, but as I pointed out the final report laid a great deal at her feet, not me. But the discussion thread is actually about a behaviour as I pointed out that is not acceptable for an elected official. The reasons for the the behaviour are not the issue, it is the actual behaviour that is disturbing, particularly when it contravenes the Councillor Code of Conduct.
