It is truly disturbing what our little community forum has become.

The snide, mean, small minded attacks and verbal abuse for those that don't share the same opinions’ as our own is just plain sad.  We willingly share misinformation because it suits our purpose rather than doing OUR own research to substantiate what is being said before spreading it.

Whether you’re working on someone else’s campaign or just expressing your own opinion – why is it that we can’t we keep it with a touch of class??  This isn’t a “why can’t we all get along” plea – but a reminder that keeping it civil would go a long way to make a point.  Negative campaigns keep the issues away from front and center.

I agree ... I am glad the election campaign is now over so this site can be used for something other than mudlsinging and name-calling.
I miss the Smart Centers debate on the Yahoo Leslieville group. Now that debate had mudslinging! Sigh...
Guilty - not one of my better moments :)

LOL! Well I guess the one positive we can take from these "discussions" is that we are surely passionate about our neighborhood! If we didn't care we all wouldn't be so emotionally invested.

I kind of wish the site hadn't gotten caught up in discussing politics at all...the whole point of a community site like this is to bring people together. I doubt that any of the drama on the boards here resulted in someone's vote being changed.

No, it may not have changed anyone's mind. But it did open us to hearing what our neighbours think and have to say. I listened, and I'm sure most people did, too.
Tomorrow's another day: we need to be able to argue, but then to shake hands, and keep being friendly neighbours. The act of disagreeing shouldn't turn us into enemies :-)
...pat.

You mean duplicate the behaviour we witness on our streets on a daily basis? The expectations differ in Leslieville because this place can be a very ugly place at times, which has been propagated by someone who has been in power for the past 4 years. So, if you want to point fingers, you now know where it comes from. Our "Leadership". Oh, BTW, communist "leadership" isn't. It's dictation.

I won't be mentioning all the crime in this neighbourhood anymore. There's a site dedicated to all that now. And it's chalk full of episodes.

The Leslieville Post

So to those that voted for PF: You got your stagnant hood. You voted for all the problems we addressed in the past 4 years. When it happens, thank yourself.
Bitter poster is bitter.

Nothing gets past you, eh?

Oh...The Duke celebrated the verdict on the shooting death of one of its patrons, and 4 other shooting injuries, yesterday. Ironic. I'm bitter that people can be that bloody stupid.
Egg - it's very easy to hide behind your pseudonym. You are one of the worst offenders. You once stated you are a local business owner is that why you hide???? Afraid people would treat you/your business differently knowing who you really are.

Maybe for your sake and the community at large get help in finding out why you are so bitter and angry. Maybe try yoga.

Well said Pat!

Yoga? How will that change City Council? LOL.

As for my business, that is irrelevant. I don't come in here for any other reason than to be a citizen of this neighbourhood. I'm not pushing any business in here, other than my will to give votes in support (or not) for businesses I see here in Leslieville. And I could care less what you think of me. I speak my mind and that's what I do. I remain the same person, and user name here in this forum, amongst minor changes which I do for my own entertainment. And the last thing I've done here is hide. I challenge views that I find short, on topics that apply to all of us, as Leslieville really isn't a very large place. True hiding would mean just leaving the site, or re-appearing in other accounts. Oh right, that's been done here. I posted my views, challenged others, voted, and have been speaking to others about candidates and issues while in public. I don't sell locally, and you don't know my business, so that is 100% speculation, which missed by about...100%.

I'll mention it once again, since you seem to have missed it.

- I'm bitter about Leslieville because it has a high frequency of drug addiction, drug manufacturing, drug transactions, stabbings, shootings, general violence, all during all times of the day.
- I'm angry because nobody is doing anything about it. Cops sit in their cars beside Le Papillon, or in the parking lot beside Price Chopper.
- Leslievillers voted PF back into power. Ceili Cottage can't get an extended patio licence, yet Tasty Chicken can't be closed down, because according to PF, "you can't just go around closing places". Apparently nothing is wrong with the place.

You know why we have City Councillors? You know why we vote on a regular basis? To change this stuff. I...wish to change things in my own capacity.

It's not that I'm bitter and angry, it's that you are blind and passive. Maybe try coffee. Or walk Queen Street at night. Or listen to a police radio. Yoga isn't going to do much for these issues.

Edit: Want another reason I'm pissed? See Picture - Arm in arm with this guy. That freeloader is the reason Ashbridges stinks up Southeastern Toronto
