Has anyone else noticed the exponential growth in the size of baby strollers? My god ladies, you may as well be pushing a Hummer.

I was in a local coffee chop today when a convoy of them came in. Everyone scrambled to shuffle tables and chairs out of way so they could get to the counter.

These things are amazing. They can hold enough gear for a family camping trip. Fully loaded they must be 100 pounds. Which means the next logical step is motorized propulsion, (4 wheel for winter perhaps?). And then you could add a cabin heater for the toddler.

If this continues, I'm pinning a Wide Load sticker on your bums.

Most of the big ones are actually designed to be much lighter than the cheaper, smaller strollers. Also, if you've ever tried to push one of those rinky dink things through the snow, you'll see why the "SUV Strollers" became so popular in Toronto.
They are definitely lighter than the old days. We decided on one that can hold all our groceries so we could leave the car at home. I understand it must be annoying for anyone without kids, but it's so difficult to enter some places with a stroller because of stairs or lack of room inside. I have my mental note of stair free entrances when I'm out trying to get me kid to sleep. No doubt, Te Aro, and Plan B have the easiest doorways and most space to grab a coffee. Lets face it, Leslieville is booming with families with young children. It was actually one of the reasons for me moving here.
