Permalink Reply by Mark Motive on November 29, 2010 at 10:38am My initial reaction was ack! for the Grinder folks, but considering Starbucks and Mercury have managed to coexist profitably for several years now maybe it'll just mean more commerce overall on the corner.
(The sign's not there this morning, but I did see it yesterday.)
Permalink Reply by Ripley Slade on December 13, 2010 at 6:07pm I will remain a fan of Grinder, but welcome Starbucks to the strip.
Permalink Reply by Boris E on December 14, 2010 at 5:52am Do we really need another place for overpriced coffee in cheap paper or plastic cups? More garbage to the landfill. Junkfood patrons don't seem to mind.
I prefer my coffee in a nice little porcelain cup instead...
Permalink Reply by LivingOnHeward on December 14, 2010 at 11:10am Excellent news! :) Love Starbucks :) Sorry Boris but I am happy to see this in the neighborhood. Should add another 100K to my house value :)
I am certainly not a Charbucks fan, but far prefer to have them at that corner than the greasy food places that have existed there over the last 5 years. Based on all the favourable developments that are occuring at Queen and Logan after Charbucks opened there, I hope for the same at Jones and Gerrard!
Permalink Reply by Boris E on December 14, 2010 at 6:10pm Certainly don't mind the 100 k in property increase. but surely we can achieve that without the junkfood industry helping.

Permalink Reply by biscuit on December 15, 2010 at 10:45am luckily, you can get exactly that at Grinders.

I went to school in that area.
Starbucks will NOT add $100K to your home there.
It will take a lot more than that....
I am happy to see Ward 30 gentrifying...it's a good thing...
Permalink Reply by Mark Motive on December 15, 2010 at 4:20pm Maybe not $100k by itself...but it's another step in a long timeline of constant improvement. Even if you don't like the store itself, its good...
