My husband and I are looking to explore the possibilities of a nanny share with another family in our area. We live near Queen & Leslie and ideally would like to share with another family close by. We have a 9.5 month old daughter and would be looking for care in mid-March. We would be looking for a full time live out nanny and the hours we would prefer would be 8:30 - 6.

If you are a family looking for the same, please contact us so we can meet and discuss further.

Hi Karen

We are looking to explore the same option. Perhaps we could chat...my e-mail address is ohforsure@hotmail.com

We are interested in a similar set up, but not until November...

Hi all - I am also interested in exploring this as an option for September for my then 2 1/2 year old daughter.  Does anyone have advice on how this would actually work?

Hi There.  Do you have a nanny already?  A nanny that I've known since my 4 year old boys were 6 weeks old is available in a week or so. I can send you her email address if you like?  She is currently working for a family in the Leslieville area.   She has great references.

Regards,

Jenny

Our family is sharing a nanny with another family in the neighborhood and it's working out wonderfully. If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer as best I can.

Hi Sue - Thanks for responding.  I am curious about the logistics:

do you both use the nanny full-time?

how do you decide which home?

how did you approach the nanny about this? did you interview her together?

how did you find the other family?

Thanks for any info,

Karen

Hi Karen,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

We do both use our nanny full-time.  Her hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5:30pm but I understand that 7:30am to 5:30pm are also very common nanny hours.  After starting with one house for the first month, to ease the transition, we are now alternating houses on a weekly basis, with the 'host family' providing snacks and lunches for the week.  While we considered using a service like Canadian Nanny, we decided to post on Craig's List first and had several viable responses.  We included that we that we were a nanny share situation right in the posting and none of the candidates we interviewed had any issue with it.  We did all of our interviewing together, and I can't image doing it any other way.  I found the other family through this website.  I was fairly certain that this was the route I wanted to go for child-care so I posted a discussion, just as you have done, when my daughter was about 3 months old.  We started out meeting as 3 moms (and little ones), and got together often during our maternity leave for coffee/walks/playdates, etc.. One of the other families made other child-care arrangements so it worked out well that the remaining two would share.  Starting to meet other families early gave us the chance to get to know each other and ensure our families were compatible.  We started the process of finding our nanny about two months before returning to work.

Like I said, it's worked out really well for our families so far.

I hope that helps.  Let me know if there is any other info you'd like.

Good luck!

Sue,

Thanks for posting that information.  Another mom and I are looking into the nanny sharing deal.  I'm glad to hear that you have had a good experience.

Hello,

I will be looking for part time infant care (1,2 days a week) in September as well. Open to nanny share, or someone recommended from the group.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Everyone - I am still interested in exploring a Nanny share (full-time) for my daughter starting in mid-late August.  She will be 31 months at that point so I would be hoping for a child of a similar age.  I like the scenario that Sue Green described - switching houses on weekly basis.  If you or anyone you know might be interested please let me know.

Thanks, Karen

Hi Karen,

We are also looking into sharing a nanny for our 10.5 month old boy. We just moved into the neighbourhood and we've been looking everywhere for infant daycare but there's nothing available right now. My son goes to a home daycare where we used to live but it's getting harder on all of us going in the TTC with him so we're looking for other options. We would be able to start in a month from now as we need to give notice to our current caregiver.

My email address is elena.rodritormo@gmail.com.

I'd love to discuss with you further if you're still looking.

have a nice day!

Elena
