Hi Folks
We have noticied a higher than usual number of day time break in's as well as night time thefts from cars in the western half of 55 Division which includes Leslieville and Riverside and the Major Crime Unit at 55 Division has taken the lead position on trying to eradicate these issues in the community.
In the day time home break and enters smaller items that are fairly easy to conceal such as jewellery and electronics are being targeted as for the night time entry's into the cars any items that seem to have value are being taken.
I would encouarge everyone to take digital photo's of items of value but don't just store the photo's on lap top computers. Keep your valuables secured in non traditional places as well as make sure your home is secure and that items that may be used to create an opportunity to enter your home are secure.
If you see suspicious activity please call either our non emergency number of (416) 808-2222 or 911.
If you would like a home security review done please call me at (416) 808-5579.

Permalink Reply by Officer Rob on May 31, 2011 at 2:30pm What does a home security review entail? My house was broken into a couple of years ago and I've made some changes but I wouldn't mind knowing if I made the right changes.
Hi Dee

We have had a break in on our street today and its got all of us thinking. Is there any way you can post more information about how to protect ourselves from home invasion? Are there links to any information you can share with us? Would you be interested in doing an evening seminar to teach us how to protect our homes?
Thanks and looking forward to talking more with you about this.

There is some things available on the Toronto Police website if people would like to check it out and I would be more than happy to do an evening seminar, what may work for your group is something I did one for another group which was instead of doing everyone's home we met at one individuals home and as a group did a security review of the one home and everyone went away with the idea's and potential probelm points to look for and did their own home review and followed up with me if they had any questions.
