Hi all,

A couple of days ago my nanny saw someone shooting up in the trees at Lesliegrove Park around 4pm in the afternoon.  The park was full of kids using the splash pad and playground.  I know when I've walked past the park at night I've seen some questionable characters - just wondering if anyone else has had any experience like my nanny had in the daytime?  Anyone every alerted the cops? Were the responsive?

I'd just hate to see a kid pick up a needle or worse have an out of it drug user/drunk/whatever harm a kid or caregiver...desperate people can sometimes do desperate things.

Anyhow, I just wanted to get a read from others in the neighbourhood.  Maybe if it's happening a lot we need to all call the cops and our counsellor often to increase the daily patrols of the park.

Interested to hear any stories.

Thanks,

Sara

:( This gives me a sick feeling in my stomach. My 14 month old crawls around that park all the time :( :( :(
make sure that you follow the assult behind scotia bank thread as well. I think you may find it interesting and very disturbing.
I live across from the park and we have noticed increased drug use in the park. We think there might also be a woman bringing her "dates" to the park. We called the police once earlier in the summer when two people were smoking crack as they lounged at a table. We kept our eyes on the situation but never saw the police.

I have noticed a slightly increased police presence over the last few weeks and I hope it continues. Things are not good at this park right now, day and night.
There is a new group on this website its for 55 DIV. An officer named Rob reads the posts daily and responds to it also. I too live across the street from the park and I actually thought the park had gotten a bit better. When I have seen people there doing drugs I just yell at them and tell them I have called the police and usually they slither away..... That being said I dont suggest it. Keep calling the police.

Check out Officer Rob's stuff he has lots of good answers and suggestions.
Thanks for the updates everyone. I got a great note back from Paula Fletcher's office which copied the head of parks, community health and the police. It was full of action items for these three groups all of which required the people copied to get back to Paula with a report. It would be great if you saw something like this again to email Paula, or this woman that works in her office:

Victoria Marshall
Assistant
Councillor Paula Fletcher
Toronto Danforth - Ward 30
100 Queen Street West, Suite C44
Toronto, ON M5H 2N2
Phone: 416 338 7184
Fax: 416 397 5200

If we all keep calling the cops, emailing Rob at 55 and emailing Paula hopefully we can mobilize the troops to keep this area clean. There are more and more kids in Leslieville every day. We need to keep them safe!

Thanks again for writing to me.

Sara
Hi Sara. There's lots of that all over this place. What I would do is get a copy of the Community Policing Complaint Form. You fill this out with the proper information and you get assigned an officer. They manage the complaint on the inside. Deliver it to the front desk (fastest in person) at 55 Division on Coxwell & Dundas, NE corner.

Yes, it's a pain and things like this should be taken care of without asking, but it's how the union works, I guess, if that makes any sense.

I see a handful of people making posts here with regards to illegal activity. I think we have to be loud in order to get this stuff out of the neighbourhood. Sorry, *I* think it should be out of the neighbourhood, regardless of any history. This behaviour isn't legendary by any means.

Here is that form:

Community Policing Complaint Form
Thanks I appreciate it. I will fill out the form and drop it off to 55 this week. I also just sent an update to Councillor Fletcher's office with some of the posts from the 55 Division group illustrating that this wasn't an isolated incident. I agree that we need to be loud about this and I also agree we need it out of our neighbourhood.
