Hi I’m Liz West and I want to be your next City Councillor, Ward 30.

With the support of my volunteer campaign team, I am working hard to earn the confidence of our community.

My first task is to engage each and every one of you in a dialogue about what concerns you have about Toronto, and specifically, Ward 30.  This allows me to ensure my platform includes the priorities of the residents.

If you are interested in being involved in the campaign, and/or would be willing to take a lawn sign in October, please contact info@lizwest.ca

I look forward to meeting each and every one of you personally when I come to your door over the next seven weeks.

Liz

hello Liz and welcome to the neighbourhood and the best of luck in the election....

my concerns are probably the concerns of most in leslieville....

crime...although it has not affected me personally while i've been a resident of leslieville it is still a concern...i'm sure this is the same in all neighbourhoods....
employment...i am currently umemployed but i would expect it to be a greater concern to a lot of my neighbors who are also finding to tough to find a job...
development...the development of the toronto film studio property remain a concern...i'm not sure what it is we want but not a car lot or a wal-mart...i would like to see more post-production facilities for film...
garbage collection...i live in a condo...i pay taxes and unless i can be told differently, i pay the same taxes as those in the houses across the street which includes garbage collection...can i get a tax rebate? if i'm wrong about this please tell me!!
ttc...this is a big one...there are a lot of things wrong with the ttc...let's start at the bottom...the uniforms are most pathetic...let's get a new colour scheme...while we're there, the drivers and others i've seen need to be put on a diet or exercize program, maybe then the uniforms will fit properly...but i'd prefer to change the colours...

maybe more later...

but i'd like to thank you very much for caring enough to participate and want to change the city from within...

Allan - thanks for providing such detail on your concerns. If I become councillor, we can talk more about solutions! Liz
Alan brought up very pertinent issues. We'd prefer to hear your response and discuss this before the elections.
Hi Liz.
What is your vision for Leslieville?
What are your qualifications?
What is your platform?
What sets you apart from the other candidates?
I agree with Randy, why would we make you councillor not knowing what your proposed solutions to our concerns are? I'm very interested to hear your thoughts on Allen's issues before voting.
Hello Pat, Randy & Tara,

I am formulating positions on the key issues of my platform that I will start to release next week.
I hope you'll visit my website at: www.lizwest.ca

Stay tuned and thank-you for your encouragement!

Liz
Hi Liz

I'm happy anytime someone wants to take part in the process and put themselves out there. I'm a big believer in competitive elections as it keeps our democracy fresh, so I'm hopeful that will be the case in our Ward.

I'm glad to see you making an effort to reach out to Leslieville and realize that we are a significant part of this Ward with our own concerns that may not be the same as those in Riverdale or the Danforth.

Looking forward to reading more about your positions and your platform.

By the way, I can say for certain that the colour and style of TTC uniforms or whether or not the drivers are in shape is NOT on my list of concerns in Leslieville :)
Oh Mark,
You talk about not wanting to be "hijacking" threads or posts and running clean campaign.

All anyone has to do is go to your website, right click and view the source code.

You are hijacking threads and being a very naughty boy.

Start your own thread and practice your debating skills.

Kisses,

Lucy

Hah! Such awesomely relevant keywords!
I agree...get your own thread please. Let Liz West stand on her own.
That's fair, guys. I don't deny it - I'm trying HARD to attract traffic to my site, and I don't mind what my team does for me to get that done.

Ironically enough, a member of the Liz West team told me that "elections are about MARKETING" - he told me that I couldn't win vs. a big media presence, and that I'd never attract the attention Liz would.

That might be true, but in the meantime, I'll use every step up a "little guy" like me can get.

I'm sorry - genuinely - if it offends anyone, period, full stop - but I stand by the tactic, just like Liz's camp will stand by the use of her Rolodex to get TV cameras to follow her around canvassing.

The issues are on www.markdewdney.com - and I'm not ashamed to use the occasional marketing tool to get people to take a solid look at these VERY important issues - and my responses to them.

I hope that's how you'll judge it - but, like an election, that's ENTIRELY up to you - I WELCOME your dialogue, and I've got a platform that you NEED to hear.
Hey Mark,

Though I don't know Liz West, I also do not know you. I do know that there are many elections that are going to be happening in our great city over the next few months and the candidates whom I personally would vote for are the ones that stand up for the issues they believe in, listen to the issues that the people they represent have regarding their neighbourhoods and most importantly act responsibly.

You state that you are not hijacking this blog and that you will start your own...yet here you are??

The people of Leslieville and the majority of the people who are on this site are educated people who either are merchants in the area or hold down a quality job with a respectible income. Needless to say, we are fully capable of reading our candidates web sites and base an opinion on our own. By even being on this blog, you have already shown a lack of respect for your competition. I certainly hope this is not all you have. If it is....might I suggest appologizing to the people on this site now as you really have created your own double standard right off the bat.

Good luck....I will only vote for the candidate that can act in a mature and honest fashion while at the same time respect the issues of the neighbourhood and come up with plausible solutions or at least a reasonable action plan.
