I'm a singer and I know a lot of killah musicians in town and I'm a little surprised that there isn't much going on as far as live jazz goes in L-ville. Every time I gig, I have to go so far afield. Of course Ten Feet Tall has some great music and Dominion on Queen too, but nothing in our immediate hood. Harumph...

What's the deal? Is there some crazy jazz ban going on? Did jazz do something to Leslieville and then not call it in the morning? Jazz is a nice person, really... I know it.

I would love to get some stuff happening, but I suppose nobody will book music if no one will listen.

Any ideas? I'm stumped.

Try the Curzon.... it had a live music night every tuesaday for awhile, but it was NOT Jazz based and slowly died out over the end of the summer. Had a good run of Acoustic live music followed by a DJ vibe. they had a run of something like 28 weeks straight, but I think the DJ thing killed it.

At least they are open to discussions about hosting music in a lounge atmosphere. Food ok too.
There was some talk about getting a softer feel for a scene on sundays, like a all beatles cover band with guests or the like.
If you are looking to put something together, shoot me an email and I can put the other musicians in touch with you.
I don't think anybody with booking skills has approached any of the possible venues out here...at least not since the potential client base in the area has expanded over the past few years. Have you approached small potential venues asking if they'd give you a gig night?
awesome Jessie! you guys definitely have a great space for live music. how late are you open? late enough for evening gigs?
