There's another new loft project in town...
It seems that preparations are being made on Carlaw Avenue. "Showcase Lofts", promising refined living @ Carlaw & Colgate Avenue.
I did some digging... they're calling for a 230 unit, 7 story building proposed by Aragon Properties.
According to Aragon, some of the standard finishes will include; 9ft ceilings, engineered hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops and "reclaimed brick" interior feature walls in all units.
If anyone is interested in launch dates and floor plans... I'd be happy to keep to keep you in the loop.

Permalink Reply by Jen C on March 11, 2011 at 2:52pm Can't complain too much about condos going up on this site - although it does make me wonder about how much more volume our semi-terrible public transportation system can handle in this part of the city
I'd rather see condos that this blank patch of nothing interesting. Also think it's probably good news for our local businesses.
Permalink Reply by Egg Flik on March 11, 2011 at 2:55pm That whole stretch of Carlaw is going to look so different. Rumours about the park behind/between the two Flat Iron Lofts and the Work Lofts.
See attached. I keep a layer in Google Earth that shows current and potential construction in the neighbourhood. Any additions I should know about?
Permalink Reply by Egg Flik on March 11, 2011 at 3:00pm Jen, why so down? Semi-terrible public transportation? I would say it's fully-terrible.
Density is going up downtown, downtown-East, LV. Not to mention the whole Port Lands. It's going to get interesting around here in the next 10 years, that's for sure. It's why I thought Transit City was such a good idea.
Permalink Reply by Kyle on March 11, 2011 at 3:12pm Agree with Jen's comments, both on condos vs. patches of dirt and sad faded townhouse sign and the ever-more-packed Queen St. streetcar, which reaches third world like capacity by 7:50am each morning. at least our current mayor is focused on public transit so....oh wait...that's right.

Permalink Reply by Socrates Apallas on March 11, 2011 at 3:34pm I go into homes all over the city... everyday...I feel like I've seen every shape and every size. Lots of new construction homes are well built and many look great!...
BUT I have to say that some full subdivions... you know the ones where every house is pretty much the same and it goes on for dozens and dozens of streets... They give me a headach!
