Good to know what the City REALLY thinks of our neighborhood.

First, there was going to be Smart Centre, then a TTC railyard.  Now, apparently the City is going to use the old Toronto Film Studios site as a "temporary jail" to house the protesters they expect to arrest during the G20 Summit in June.

God, I hope something responsible gets done with that land soon - I can only imagine what the City will think of next!

Personally, I would prefer living in the same area as the temporary jail for political protesters over living in the immediate area of the conference...

"Residents and those working in the area will have to register to get access to their homes and businesses during the period of the summit."
True enough, Nolin, true enough :)

Still, I'd like some assurances that the Police will limit this temporary jail strictly to G20 protestors, and won't start using it to process some of the overflow from the Don Jail or something. It is a "jail" after all.....

If it's indeed just a temporary 'holding facility' for protesters, then it's not a big deal - the whole city is going to be inconvenienced by this stupid conference, so that's our part, I guess. I don't think these people will go on some rampage through our neighbourhood upon release.

But if it is a thin edge of a permanent 'jail' wedge for these lands, then we have a problem, Houston.

maybe we can protest their jailing the political protesters. Really confuse things. Show them what Leslieville is all about!
Hold a rally outside the holding pen? Free Speech! Free the Protestors!

I love it! And as an added bonus, it's a really short trip to the holding cells!

Good to know that I'll be close to home.

Now, if only I can convince one my neighbours to deliver a chocolate cake with a file inside. Anyone?
Can we put the LRA in there?
I noticed this morning a parking lot full of police vehicles at the old Toronto Film Studios - so the rumour is true!
Not a half-bad idea. After the summit, we can put the LRA, the guy from Flik, and the cheese-hater in there. It can become the Leslieprisoner.com and, potentially, a new tourist attraction in the area.

Maybe we can have them work in your bakery! So are you bakery #3, or am I? That reminds me, I need to make some more buns.

Speaking of baking, and certainly off topic, do you know how to make great French bread? I mean chewy crust, not that hard stuff that tears out my teeth.
we've almost got ourselves a sitcom
