There was an article in the Report on Business in the Globe last week about the owner of MacFab (as part of a larger articles on the benefits, in some cases, of small business owners owning, rather than renting the properties their business resides in). Apparently his rent out in Queen West got jacked up so rather than continue paying rent, he bought the location in Riverside to set up a store and will apparently live upstairs from the new store. I also recall reading that he's actually shutting down the store at Queen and Bathurst, so he'll only have the one store in Riverside.
Saw their 'coming soon' sign in the window on the weekend, so they're definitely coming.
Thanks Caro! And we'll be opening December 10th, with a bang :D

I won't have to make the trip to the other side of town anymore!!!!!
Le Papillon is now open.

Here is an article describing the reasons for Le Papillon taking so long to open, including getting the run around from Sandra Bussein and City Hall, shameful.
That's what we're very excited about too, so many more lovely guests and a sweet new spot to hang out at :)

Hope to see you at the grand opening- December 10th! Bevvies, complimentary services, and CAKE! Pass it on, bring your friends!

Unreal. Her antics and others of her ilk (ie Joe Pantalone in the west end with his anti-restaurant crusade on Harbord and on Ossington) just go to show the damage caused by the entrenched incumbency of our city council, where its almost impossible to lose your seat once you're in. These guys never adjust to the reality of their changing neighborhoods, because they don't have to.

It's sad, because it would've had a great head start for Le Papillon if they'd been able to open in the summer - instead, they're opening in the middle of November in a stretch of Eastern that is usually a ghost town at that time of year - thanks for the support, City Council.
Thanks for sharing, Victoria! I have a feeling Le Papillon on the Park will become a new marquis destination draw in our community for people from all over the city, and will really drive the redevelopment of that section of Leslieville. I'm sure our neighbourhood will show them a lot more support than City Hall did.
Cherry Restaurant, which is a building I was looking at for a business, is going through construction now. While parking might be touch, it looks like a neat location.
Hey, anyone know when the new pizza place next to Red Rocket is meant to open?
I read on Martiniboyz that it's supposed to open some time in March.

Anyone know when that new "What are you looking at Bar and Lounge" by Carlaw Carbuerators (Queen between Carlaw and Heward) is opening? It's gotta be getting close now.
