We're heading out for dinner tomorrow night (May 5).  Not looking for anything fancy and prefer something east of Pape on Queen, but we're open to suggestions, or put another way we are easily influenced!!

We like all types of food and although we don't want to spend a bundle for dinner that's not our biggest concern, but we are looking for someplace casual.

Where have you been lately that's been good?

Stratengers .... excellent pizza, good basic Indian food also, etc. Good selection of draft. Wednesday should have Joop as the server and he is very good and attentive. Lots of space indoors and out ... and two seperate seating areas indoors for your choosing.
Thanks! Haven't been there for a couple of years and tomorrow might even be patio weather, so it's an option.

Anyone else with a suggestion?
Hanoi 3 Seasons has great Vietnamese and it's very well priced.

Check out the Restaurant Reviews discussion area too.

Has anyone tried Queen Margharita?
Love Hanoi as well. Fresh, fast, delicious and so well priced. We order from there at least once a week!
Just to update y'all on our dinner. I hadn't heard of Queen Margharita so did some googling and also checked out chowhounds. Based on what I read we headed on over. I was still in my suit from the office and didn't feel out of place at all. It's probably the least casual pizza place I've been to since Italy! That said it is a comfortable place, full of families, couples and friends out for a meal.

The menu is structured as a $25 prix fixe, but if you just want pizza you can order a la carte, The namesake pizza is marvelous. Could have stayed in the oven another 30-60 seconds, but otherwise was great. Also had the porchetta and an arugula salad - both very good. We are definitely planning a return visit.

At the risk of getting too much buzz going about this place, I expect it will get very popular very quickly, so you might want to stop by soon before it gets 'discovered'.

Thanks for asking the question, JM!

ciao!
Too late. Toronto Life ran a profile of Queen Margherita this week. Yet another Leslieville restaurant that will be impossible to get into. Wish there was a "locals" card that could put you front of the line ; )
A locals card would be fantastic! Maybe I won't have to wait in line at OKOK every Sunday hahaha!

Re: Queen Margherita

Tried this place last week. The appetizers are all excellent and equally good. We weren't wowed by the pizza. Our table tried four different varieties and the mezza luna. While we could appreciate they were going for subtlety the overall effect was a bit bland (eg. the mezza luna was filled with what seemed like plain riccotta; no touch of nutmeg or parsley). The crusts were very soft and floppy.
Best pizza I have had since Europe. Great service. Family-friendly and a nice (large) vodka martini to boot. We've been twice more since our first visit in late May.
We didn't have a very good experience at Margherita... pizza was okay, but bland. From other reviews, it seems like the quality is not very consistent.
