I’m on Bertmount Avenue and was wondering if anyone saw any value in having a few neighbouring streets get together for a Spring Street Sale. If the majority of interest is concentrated in one area, we can make that area ground zero and organize something. I believe Coady has an street party in the fall, but I was thinking of more of a street sale in the spring, which wouldn’t take away from their annual event. I’ve certainly accumulated some stuff over the years and am looking for a reason to have a garage sale, but don't have a garage! Thought if there was more interest, it would be a better draw to visit a street, rather than one house.
I'm on Brooklyn and was thinking to see if people on my street were interested in something like this. Perhaps we could get together and do both our streets together and have a block party/sale? I've added you as a friend so we can chat offline, if you like. Just send me your email address/phone.
Are you guys familiar with the Leslieville Stomp that used to be organized on this site? I'm sure you likely are, but just in case I thought I'd mention it. It involved a day of Leslieville-wide garage sales, events and promotions from local businesses. Unfortunately, last summer it didn't happen due to a lack of funding and volunteers. Maybe we could start stirring up some more interest!
I actually did a bit of research and found out that the Stomp meets the requirements to apply for a Community Street Event Grant from the city. It's only $500 but it could be a start.
Madeline, hopefullly you got a flyer in your mailbox advertising the sale. And Naomi, sounds like it was a great idea and similar to what Riverdale does. I've lived in the neighbourhood for 4 years now and haven't heard of it before, would be great to get it going again. Might too late for this sale, but perhaps later in the summer?
If you guys would like to check out more of the response for this sale, search "Leslieville Street Sale" on Facebook.
Does this link take you to the page? https://www.facebook.com/events/#!/groups/339499242766724/permalink...
Otherwise, trying entering "leslieville street sale" in the search box at the top of your screen when you log into Facebook.
Once you find the page, just request to join it and we will approve you. Once approved, you can let us know what street you are on so we will include that in our advertising. Or you can tell me here and I'll also post it on the FB page.
Hope this helps!

I am starting to feel old and not very tech savvy - I can't find the Leslievile Street Sale on Facebook. Is this yard sale on? If it is, can I still get involved as a seller. My husband and I joind two houses together and we have lots of doubles. We would love to have a sale, but we have no garage or yard.
Hopefully we aren't too late.
At least a couple of us on McGee St. will be having sales too. There will be lots of kids/baby stuff, books, a Melissa and Doug play table, a Radio Flyer ride on horse, a wagon, a stroller, lots of good stuff that we've outgrown! Thanks for organizing this great neighbourhood event.
