THE BURGER SHOPPE ON QUEEN STREET AND BROADVIEW....NOT SO GOOD A PLACE

I was quite interested to read about the Great Burger Kitchen that is new and getting rave reviews.  This new location on Gerrard just west of Jones.  The same can't be said for one of the original haunts that opened in our neighbourhoud that being the Burger Shoppe.

I had frequented this place early on, and was quite impressed by the quality of the food, it was young folk who were running the joint (so let's support the locals), and the price was right.  I had not been in awhile and was rather surprised at what had happened to this place. First off food less than good.  To top it off, this place less than clean.  As I sat next to the open kitchen to wait for my food , I thought of leaving as it was less than clean.  And the staff were less than clean themselves.   And as i continued to look around the place realized the floor hadn't been washed in some time, as nor the ceiling fans or anything else.  Suffice it to say it totally and I mean totally turned me off.

If you're prepared to eat food that is cooked in less than desirable conditions by staff who seem to care less about the whole issue of food preperation, then stick with this place.  if not then move onto our next local burger joint which is on a better track.

My ratings- Very poor don't bother.

We agree...not the best place to get a burger, or poutine. Save your money and go to Craft Burger insteat in King West or Yorkville.
....or just go to Dangerous Dan's a half block away, or even Greak Burger Kitchen on Gerrard at Jones. Personally, if I'm in Leslieveille craving a burger, I'm looking a little closer to home than Yorkville or King West.
Exactly! GBK is great - excellent quality, lots of variety, fantastic onion rings.
We agree as well...GBK was very good, and the service was top notch, and very friendly.
Has anyone tried Burger Priest on Queen just east of Coxwell?
I went to BS last weekend and they were in the middle of renovation/cleaning...it was complete chaos. The sort of work you close down to do. In any case, I still ordered food to go. When I got home I found out the burger was not cooked through properly and the fries were a soggy and greasy mess. Needless to say I wasn't feeling the greatest that night. Last time I will be going there.

I'm always on the look out for a good burger, so I will definitely need to try GBK and Priest. So far, the best I've had is Craft...would be great if they opened in the east end.
We've given up on the Burger Shopper and go to GBK instead. My husband says GBK's are the best burgers he's ever had. Their poutine is also excellent. Huge, squeaky curds, handcut fries and yummy gravy. One order is more than enough for 2 people.
I second this. I save up all my burger cravings for GBK now. The onion rings are amazing too, almost tempura battered. Only downside is the upsize - I find eating a whole burger and a full order of onion rings is too much for one person although it is so delicious I usually give it that college try. My favs so far are the greek and the voodoo burger.
Another vote for GBK. The staff are fast and very friendly. The onion rings are fantastic!!
