Does anyone know any fence builders?  Is this the type of job that can be done this time of year, as I believe it probably would require cement pouring :)?

I'm appreciate any recommendations, info or direction, as I have no idea where to start!

Thanks,

Maggie

I wish people wouldn't fence in their front yards - unless there's no other options.  I think it's very un-neighbourly.
Perhaps they are tired of the dog crap being left on their front lawn.  Seems to be the only deterrent.

Actually, my desire to be neighbourly is why I want the fence.  I have two small children and I want to spend time out front instead of hiding in the backyard all the time.  The reason I'm even inquiring is because I want to make sure the fence we get is tasteful and blends with our landscaping.   Dog poop has never stopped my from hanging out on my front porch, it's annoying, but I can just pick it up.  Having to police two toddlers on the other hand keeps me inside or cuts friendly chats with neighbours short. But thanks for your input, Kelly.
There's always the toddler leashes.    Someone on my street just put up a horrible iron fence in their front yard and it really destroys the feel of the street.    I find a fenced-in front yard a very suburbany-US phenomenon.   We also had lots of problems with dog crap in the front yard and found that a line of edge rock (about 10-15cm high) did the job.   We also teach our kids not to go near the road without an adult.   Now if only there were a solution for the cats that crap all through our yard, I'd be happy.

Teaching a two year old something and trusting them to do it 100% of the time are two different things, I believe any parent would agree.  Wow, only 8am and I've already had my commitment to neighbourly-ness, my identity as a hip urbanite, and my parenting critiqued!

Just looking for a local contractor!!

I'll spare any critique and just tell you to call Evan from Dream Decks.  He is a local guy and does great work.  647-377-5131.

I am willing to come by and express my thoughts on your fence project, if you are still looking for one.. You should get min three quote on any project you do..

Also, how far is the city property coming to your front yard?? Probably, you don't want to have any problem after you built the fence...

Cheers, A
