I liked that place....well the people that worked there were grumpy...but otherwise ok. Are they closed for good?

There was a sign posted on the door a little while back that said they were moving locations but would still be somewhere in the area - haven't heard anything new on that. Truth is, the place never seemed like it was open, so I can't say I necessarily missed it being closed.

The good news is that its being replaced by a new brunch/lunch spot, Lady Marmalade, which is out of Victoria, BC, and is supposedly quite well-known and liked out there. The Leslieville location will be their second restaurant.
I've taken the liberty of re-posting an item from the Leslieville Yahoo Group about Pulp Kitchen...

Hi everyone,

In light of that last posting, I feel I need to shed a little light on the Pulp Kitchen topic:

I sold Pulp Kitchen nearly three years ago - it's a long story why, but let's just say it was a sad departure for me. Worse still, the people who bought PK didn't have any restaurant experience, nor seemed to care much about the cuisine they served and the original spirit that I had built up over 9 years. It's especially embarrassing and alarming to hear of the experience your friend had; But I believe that if my original team were still a part of the "new" PK, I am confident this would never have happened.

But let me clear the air on what's happening now: I have bought Pulp Kitchen back! And yes, I am moving it to 1127 Queen East. It will take a while for us to be up and running, but I promise to bring the true spirit of PK back to the 'hood. A really wonderful couple will be opening a diner at the old location - they started in Vancouver - and I wish them the best of success. Though it's not veg, they'll have lots of organic items on hand.

If you'd like to be kept informed about the new PK location, you can join the Pulp Kitchen group on Facebook. I am very interested in hearing what you liked about PK, what you didn't like (horrible serving experiences should be kept to a minimum, considering a new and improved ownership and team!!) and what you'd like to see different.

Feel free to contact me directly or share your thoughts openly on this group.

I am very excited to be back at the Pulp Kitchen helm, and hope not too many of you have lost faith!

Marie
Yes...thanks for posting that Jen! I walked past what will be the new location this afternoon... south side of Queen, just east of Caroline.

I'd always heard that Pulp Kitchen was quite beloved in the area, but given my limited experience with the place, I was left to wonder why. I also know they got some REALLY bad press in a Toronto Life article about 6 months back as they were accused of being unfriendly to babies and strollers.

Sounds like the new and former owner has heeded the bad rep her place was getting (apparently thanks to the people she sold to) and will hopefully turn it around. Best of luck to her!
I'm so glad the previous owner has repurchased...and I'm thrilled they're moving in where they are. It looks like a bigger space and it is easier to access.

Best of luck and we look forward to the grand opening!
I don't think they've closed for good. I saw a sign on a store front the other day announcing the opening of a new Pulp Kitchen somewhere along Queen between Jones and Leslie (I think). Good to know as I was missing the food. Yes, servers were grumpy, though lol.
Yes, I agree, Chris. I was always disappointed with the food at PK.. I wish the new/old owners luck in their new location. The 'hood needs more non-bacon focussed brunch options.
