I was walking by yesterday (Saturday) in the early afternoon and noticed it was closed and looked like the front doorway hadn't been maintained in a while (lots of bird poop). Did it close? I'll miss it.

I also noticed when walking by yesterday that Toast was closed during prime brunch hours.  Nothing posted on the door either.  Maybe they're closed for holidays/renos/who knows and forgot to post something?  Popular place.

Unfortunately Toast has closed its doors for good.  A long time fixture in the hood and here long before the strip was hip, I will really miss them.  When I first bought my house on Pape I used to sit in the front widow of Toast drinking Steam Whistle anxiously waiting for the closing date on the new home and looking forward to when I could move to hood full time.

There were a few reasons for Toast closing down but I won't go into them here.  I'm sure that none of the issues facing the restaurant were insurmountable but sometimes a lot of little things can add up to the point that its just not worth carrying on.

Anyway, I was sad to see them go.

Looks like it's Tomi Kro. That could be a Leslieville joke.

Sad to see this go.  Was a long time patron of this restaurant and although not from it's early days, pretty darn close......even had my wedding reception in that restaurant and Tony did an amazing job and everyone had an amazing time.....Tony and him mom were running the place in the last little while, and they are commended for adding to this neighborhoud and being the very first to install themselves in Leslieville.. Best of luck in your new ventures.

Hi there, as you now must know, Toast is indeed gone, but I am happy to report that I have a number of offers for the space already and am looking forward to something wonderful happening that carries Toast's momentum forward into 2012.

Carl, (the landlord)
