TPS LINKS

I wanted to post a note on here about a new service being provided by the Toronto Police Service. It;s called TPS LINKS and it finally replaces our very old but successful autodialer program. It allows for you to sign up on line and receive notifications from us from local street closures to community safety issues to city wide issues. The only downfall is any voice messages you will receive from 55 will have my voice attached to it.

To sign up go to the following
www.torontopolice.on.ca and click on the TPSlinks icon to follow the registration process.

Cheers

Is there any chance we can get some more details on this crime?

Home invasions at 6 am sound like a drug-related thing.  The robberies in the East End have risen as it's getting cold.  Any details at all on what's happening?

Another car theft attempt on Prust Avenue last night. So annoying!

I was house sitting on Bertmount and my car was parked in the lane. My rear window was shattered but not broken through, so nothing was taken. $200 later I'm working for free.

Vicky, I've had bikes stolen out of the back of my car as I slept...after an epic ride.  I've had my bikes stolen while I ran inside to buy something.  Bike thieves, if you ask me, are especially rotten.

Please call the police about this one.  Every bike thief reported is better.  I'm sure they love pictures as well.

Hi, If you just had a Black Trek bike stolen in the East End near Jimmie Simpson Park, I saw a guy rushing it across the street to 841 Queen St. @4:55pm. Tall, white male. Full beard, long hair, smoking. Behaving as though he had just stolen it- just a weird hunch. Hopefully I'm just being prejudiced/profiling and nobody had their bike stolen.

Both myself and my brother-in-law have had bikes stolen in the past year so I have a hate-on for bike thieves. As the city becomes more bike friendly people need to use the web to catch these punks.

Hi Folks

We are aware of the issue of thefts from vehicles from the different parts of our division and it is a focus of both uniform and non uniform officers.  It litterally can happen in seconds and while working on a prostitution sweep a couple of years ago we watched a guy walk down a residential street and flip 20 car door handles and arrested him.  So I encourage people to not leave valuables in the car.

I also live on ashdale close to Queen, it seems each time the doors on the car aren't locked someone goes thought it.  All they ever get is loose change, but very annoying!

I'm on Ashdale (Little India) and there have been a fair number of car break ins in our area as well. We accidentally left the doors unlocked and something was taken from our SUV 3 weeks ago, and now our neighbours are complaining about the same thing. Guess we'll all have to be a little more vigilant.

Hi, just found out about this group because of a reccomendation from someone that I post info here about recent car break-ins.  I live on Brooklyn Ave. my car was gone through Sunday night and a number of DVDs and CDs were stolen along with a few other incidentals.  My husband's car was also gone through (he doesn't lock his because he's sick of replacing windows).  He was parked in our spot out back (west side laneway between Brighton and Blong).  The following are cross posts from the Leslieville yahooo group:

- I also live on Brooklyn (just a few houses down from you, P). I accidentally left my car unlocked a few nights ago and someone went through it. All they took was my sunglasses.

- I'm sure you've noticed the increase in activity of suspicious folks around our lanes in the past weeks. I caught Liam aka short black haired guy on bike snooping around at the back of our lanes now on two occasions since our return on Saturday, and one young man with missing teeth and a black cap trying to avoid me seeing his face loitering on the Brooklyn lane.

- Was this on Sunday night? I live on Knox and park in the alley behind the house and our car was searched Sunday night. We stopped locking the car after the window was smashed a few months ago. The only thing worth taking in the car was a few coins. Very frustrating. Wonder if it was the same person going through the neighbourhood.

- My dogsitters window was smashed on Tues night/wed morn in alley between brooklyn and bertmount and my next door neighbour reported evidence that someone was in her van (drinking beer apparently) for further info

Saw guy known as "Scooter" and a blond women at church courtyard at queen and carlaw searching in bushes and looking around suspiciously. Isn't the first time. Thought I would pass along.
