Comment by Moxie Jennifer on May 2, 2012 at 3:42pm Hey Lisa Thanks for being concerned. Toto's story is here http://www.facebook.com/events/372335529485504/ I just got back from the Leslieville Animal Hospital and Allison treated him He is going to be put on antibiotics once his blood work up is looked at to make sure the meds we give him will be okay for he little guy. We now have him on some pain meds and he was just starting to fall asleep on top of the couch by the window. He loves that spot! he is a real little trooper like most dogs are.
Allison, the vet, said as soon as we can get him the dental surgery the better. We are hoping to do this within the next week or two at the most. Chinese Cresteds are notorious for bad teeth. They have pre historic teeth and often have teeth issues.
Toto was with the same owner for 10 years..that's his age now.. and then she had to give him up due to her own health issues. Breaks my heart!
Yesterday The rescue where we have worked with in the past called us to pick him up from a woman who had adopted him out a few days ago. This woman had wanted a senior dog as she thought that with being a first time dog owner he would be a good bet..already trained, no big emotional issues..ect.. he was told once she adopted him he will need dental work asap. She had no problem with that until she took him to the vet and her vet said it would cost her close to 2000$. She was also told by the vet he needed antibiotics asap. She did not want to pay for anything at that point and called the rescue back demanding they come and get him as she didin't want to spend that kind of money on him. She also returned the meds he needed for a refund.
So now we are scrambling to get the funds... The rescue is also doing some fundraising in their networks.
Any amount helps and if you saw this little heartbreaker..!!! We want to keep him ourselves but we already have 2 chinese cresteds and they are just now adjusting to each other. Once he is back to good health he will be up for adoption again...and wow is he a sweet heart!

Comment by YOSHA SIFFERMAN on May 2, 2012 at 2:02pm Toto's at Leslieville Veterinary Clinic right now. Waiting to hear what's necessary to get him back to tip-top shape.
Comment by YOSHA SIFFERMAN on May 2, 2012 at 2:01pm Anyone who can ... please help this little guy, Toto. It's so easy to drop $5 on a latte ... this would really make a difference. I know we have a lot of amazing dog lovers in Leslieville. Toto deserves a break ... security and good health. Any donation will help. We wouldn't be asking if we had the funds ourselves.
