Hi there, I'm looking at moving into the neighbourhood with my family. We've heard great things about it. Was just wondering what daycare options are available here (I've seen some threads on home care, which is great, but I'm also interested in daycare centres).

Where do most of your kids go? How long are wait lists? My son is 3-months old. Do you think I'd have a problem getting a spot in a local centre for when he's a year or so?

Thanks for any info you have.

My kids are at Boulton Avenue Childcare Centre on Broadview Avenue, just north of queen. They have been there since my daughter was 13 months. (she is now 4.5 years) and my son is 6. they take kids at age 0. I recommend them.
Thanks for your reply. I'll look into Boulton Ave. Is this the centre most Leslieville kids attend, then? I've just heard that waiting lists at downtown centres are crazy and I'm probably a little late getting him onto the lists, so I want to make sure I have info on all the options available!!

Thanks again!
J
I've been on waiting lists since July 08 and I still don't have a spot. I need an infant spot for Sept 09 and am hoping something will come up in the next few weeks. Our first choices are the local Woodgreen daycares - Win Harris, Riverdale, Debbie Yeung... Not cheap. $70-80/day. Call the daycares to pop in for tours and you can view and compare. There are definitely visible differences across daycares - Food, staff, toys, books, etc. Lots of resources online to help you get through this selection process. Daycare tour checklists, etc. G'luck!
Hi MamaLim,

You may want to consider a home daycare while you are waiting for a spot. There are number of providers who attend the Early Learning Centre's at Bruce Jr. P.S on a daily basis. You could observe the first week of September and see if anyone seems like a good fit.

Jess - it's hard to tell whether there will be a spot as it often seems like luck/good timing to get a spot. It is good to get on many lists because if a spot becomes available to someone else, and they can't take it, the daycares just keeps going down the list.

Good luck with your search.

Jenny
You may have a problem, but there is no way of knowing this far in advance. My son has been waitlisted since August 2008 at about 8-9 centres, many of which of not even close to where we live, and still no openings. I recommend getting waitlisted as early as possible. Many people call while they are pregnant.
Does anyone have any idea whether there are any French/English daycares in Leslieville or Riverdale?
