Hi

We are emigrating to Toronto in April from the UK and I'm desparate to find a full-time spot for my wee girl (Lois). I had no idea finding childcare in Toronto would be such a stressful job! Are there ANY spots free in good daycare in the Leslieville or Riverdale area? We would even consider nanny share if anyone's interested?

Thanks

Leigh

Hi Leigh,

I'm from the UK too, I immigrated 8 years ago.  I'm in the Leslieville area and currently looking for a part-time/nanny-share position.  I have a lot of experience with toddlers and I'm sure we could work something out that suits your budget and time requirements.

If you're interested, let me know.

Cheers,

Roberta

Hey Roberta - sounds like a plan! We would be after someone 5 days though as I'll be working full-time Downtown.

Drop me a line separately at leigh.armstrong@tbwamanchester.co.uk if you like?

Many thanks

Leigh

I'm pretty sure there are some spots available at the city-run daycare at Coxwell & Queen Sts.:

http://www.toronto.ca/children/dmc/webreg/gcreg1888.html

We had our 3 year old enrolled there but ended up pulling her out for reasons not related to the daycare. It's well-run, convenient and medium-sized. It's also expensive: ie: $1300+ monthly if you are not subsidized.

worth looking into.

We have our daughter Lilah (also 2.5yrs) on the list for this place http://www.allaboutkids.ca/ Their Gerrard Street location is in the process of being licensed.  They are hoping to have their inspection at the end of March.  Once you contact them they will send you weekly updates on their progress.  This is not a brand new daycare but one that moved from another location.  They currently have two other locations in operation.

Hi Roberta,

I live in leslieville and I'm currently looking for a part-time nanny for my 15 month daughter. If you're interested, please send me a message.

Thanks,

Mariela

Hi Leigh,

Have you tried Woodgreen? They have a few locations in Leslieville, we had our daughter there and were happy with it.  LIkely a wait list, but doesn't hurt to get on it!

Hey MC

Yep - got her on the list there too - at various locations. Poor thing is on lots of waiting lists! Thanks for the good advice though.

I have an opening at my bilingual (French/English) home daycare if you're interested.  I'm on Greenwood Ave and have twin 1 year old girls and a 2.5 year old as well.  I know my 2.5 year old would absolutely LOVE same aged company!

Let me know if you're interested! :)

Hi Leigh,

We are happy to welcome Lois to our all about kids daycare at Gerrard and Jones and look forward to meeting her and all the other children SOON!!! I wish you all the best with your move to Toronto!

Ellen
Thanks so much Ellen. And thanks again for being so understanding re all of our questions! We (and Lois) can't wait!
