Hideaway Wading Pool Opening Date: June 27th, 2009 Close Date: Sept 6th, 2009

All dates are weather permitting.

The pool hours for Hideaway Park are: 3:00 pm - 6:30 pm Tuesday to Sunday. This should allow families and local residents who are working a chance to get to the pool and enjoy it during the summer time as I know this was an issue raised at the end of last year’s season.

I think that we should also kick start the pool season with a picnic. Last year's Thursday Night Picnics were a huge success and I think we should continue them, not sure what everyone's feelings are about doing it on opening day, it is a Saturday and the first of the school holidays so perhaps too many of you will have evacuated the city I don't know. What do you think?

If it's not Saturday 27th it will be the first Thursday evening of the summer holidays which is July 2nd from 5-7pm - remembering of course that food or drink cannot be taken into the actual pool - so there'll need to be some poolside vigilance this year with the later pool hours!

Hi Yishey,

We're going to be meeting every Tuesday at noon. This coming Tuesday we'll be at Leslie Grove Park at the corner of Queen and Jones. Come join us!

My daughter is 2.5 months. :)

Totally missed the Moms and Dads in the Park... bummer :(
Any groups I can join? I have a 3 month old boy... A-dorable!

Hideaway Park also has a wading pool that should be opening in June. It's a smaller park and is fully fenced in which is nice for those who have mobile babes that may want to join in the group.

Karen - My 7 week old has bright copper-red hair and pale white skin. I understand about the sun. I wonder.....part of the park has some nice big trees. Perhaps we should plan on using that end of the park.

Nolin - I think promoting a group on the site would be helpful. What if we just used this group? That way both moms and dads are included. It would make for a longer url, but it is descriptive. What do you think?

I don't mind making the flyers, but definitely would love some help getting them distributed.

J - Wednesday, May 27 works for me. Noon in the park. Hmmm...I wonder if Tango might be willing to give us a discount on coffee? Also, I think one of the things I would love to have happen at the gathering would be for folks to share other resources and groups, such as the Bruce Public School one. I suspect there is a lot going on out there, but no central repository for stuff in our neighborhood.

sorry J, no babysitter recommendations...but i'd love to join you guys at leslie grove. i meetup with a great group of moms i met through a weewelcome group (leslieville/riverdale), i'll invite them too. we were doing the house to house thing taking turns hosting, but it's getting nice out now plus some of them are starting to make plans to return to work.
my daughter's almost 11 months old (on the move), and fair skinned, so in the long run we'd probably prefer a time when the sun is not so strong.

One more thing while we are chatting...I am still looking for a babysitter who is available every once in a while during the day and evening - if anyone knows of one, I'd love to hear about them!

Also, wanted to add that I did check out the drop-in at Bruce Public School when my son was younger - lots for baby to see and do, but not really great socially, I wouldn't say.

i know the Running Group and Book Club folks have had good success using a group on the site here to coordinate and plan events like this. the running group even did some advertising with posters, etc. to direct people to their group on the site.

if you create it with a short enough name, you'll get a useful URL like "" or something that you can put right on the flyer.

let me know if i can help!

Leslieville Local Business Marketing - 10 ways to use

Posted by Nolin (Admin) on February 3, 2011 at 12:00pm 4 Comments

When I launched this site in early 2009, one of the compelling reasons for doing so was that I was struck by how many of the businesses in Leslieville are locally owned and operated.  Another big observation was (and still is) how proud most…
