I am so excited to be teaching yoga at Chang'e Studio! The people are so friendly and supportive and the space is absolutely beautiful! It is filled with positive energy that creates a special place for people to get together and find healing through several modalities.

I have been doing yoga for over 10 years and it has helped me overcome many physical and mental obstacles in my life. My goal as a teacher to help others discover the same holistic and spiritual benefits of yoga. I completed my Teacher Certification with shakti mhi of the Prana Yoga College while I was in Thailand last March 2009. shakti is an incredible spiritual teacher whose teaching college is registered with the Yoga Alliance. The college is located in Vancouver but shakti does teacher trainings all over the world, thereby making her trainings accessible to people from all walks of life.

My training in Classical Hatha Yoga emphasizes the importance of meditation and breath in and between postures. Correct body alignment and proper muscle control is taught to ensure students are practicing safely. I offer many modifications for poses with and without the use of props, making my Hatha classes more accessible to all types of students. I offer several variations for poses so that students can learn within their physical and mental capacities.

I have also done an intensive Restorative Yoga Teacher Training with Hali Schwartz of The Yoga Sanctuary and with the use of props, students are supported through slower, deeper holds in poses that promote restoration and relaxation of all the body's systems (including the mind!).

Currently I am offering Hatha and Restorative Yoga Classes on a weekly basis at the studio located at 1114 Queen Street East (just east of Pape Ave.)

Mondays and Fridays 9:30-10:45am Hath Flow Level 1
(some knowledge of basic yoga poses is recommended, but variations/modifications offered to all levels of students- props are often used and poses flow naturally into each other through the use of breath- emphasis on meditative aspects of yoga and creating mind-body awareness- classic poses taught: lying and seated twists, basic standing and sitting forward bends, components of sun salutations, basic standing and balancing poses)

Thursdays 7:15-8:30pm Hatha Flow Levels 1&2
(experience with basic yoga poses is highly recommended, same components as Level 1 class, but building on more advanced versions with option for Level 1 students to challenge themselves - but modifications and adjustments are offered to all students based on their level )

Wednesdays 8:15-9:30pm Restorative
(open to all levels and limitations, especially beneficial to those working with injuries and medical conditions, class is very slow paced, poses are supported by props and held for longer periods of time, meditation and breath awareness highlighted to induce deeper states of relaxation and rejuvenation for body and mind)

Benefits of practicing yoga regularly include:
- improved sleep
- improved functioning of digestive system
- decreased stress levels by way of increased relaxation of the nervous system
- increased oxygen and blood flow to all organs, stimulating the detoxification of toxins from the body and boosting the immune system
- increased flexibility not just on the physical but on the mental/emotional level as well
- increased ability to let go of negative attachments and thought patterns
- increased stamina and muscle tone
- an amazing opportunity to learn about oneself and others through cultivated awareness of the body, mind and soul
