What is happening with this corner?

My senses are offended each time I pass this corner. I need to rush home and pop a couple of Prozac to keep me from leaping in the pit. Will it ever be finished?

930 Queen East. Full scale gutting for.... what?

Hello all. I was picking up some beans at Mercury last night when we noticed the space at 930 Queen St E was gutted and stripped down to the studs. Seriously, there were only beams on the ground floor and you could see into the basement. Anyone know what this is being turned into?

Weston bakery to be closed?

Looks like the much-loved neighbourhood institution the Weston bakery at Eastern and Logan will be closed (see paragraph 55, below) . A shame - I think we all love the wonderful smell of baking bread wafting over our neighbourhood - beats the odour of the sewage treatment plant! Any bets on how soon condos / townhouses spring up at that location?

A funny little history...

So, after six months in my little flat in Leslieville, I have become increasingly aware of the previous tennants. Aparently, ours was a house well known as a crack den and brothel- which I assumed explained the dirty hand prints all over the walls when we moved in. Alas, a friendly (though infinitely scary) neighbour did tell me all about the source of those handprints just yesterday: after the drug squads had raided, the crack dealers moved out, and the prossies stopped turning tricks, he and… Continue

New Cooking Show for moms...and anyone who loves to eat!

I was watching the CBC this afternoon and saw a great new cooking show. It was called BEST RECIPES EVER and it made me hungry just watching it. The host was a lot of fun and I think I've seen her in Leslieville a couple of times. So, she might be local? It airs at 3pm in Toronto. So, it still gives you time to make the food in time for dinner.

Leslieville Local Business Marketing - 10 ways to use

Posted by Nolin (Admin) on February 3, 2011 at 12:00pm 4 Comments

When I launched this site in early 2009, one of the compelling reasons for doing so was that I was struck by how many of the businesses in Leslieville are locally owned and operated.  Another big observation was (and still is) how proud most…
