We are loving our new space on Eastern Avenue and we thank all of you who have come by for a class, a visit, a cup of tea or just a curious peak.

We need one here!! I would organize one for the duration of the summer, or even for one weekend to see how it goes if I can find a spot to have it. Any suggestions?

This newbie has a question.
Is there an organized Leslieville Studio Art Tour? If so, who is the contact person; if not, how come???

I'm new to this site, but not to the neighborhood. I thought I would send out a proper introduction, so please imagine me with a basket of freshly sharpened crayons and some nice hot coffee from the Queen east joint of your choosing.
I'd like to let you know that I'm in love with my work and am taking new clients. Before becoming a life coach I made my living making art (some of you may remember Eastern Front Gallery?) and now my focus has expanded… Continue

Machine Age Modern
1000 Queen St E.
From the street, Machine Age Modern looks more like an art gallery than a furniture store. It’s wide windows, spacious rooms and white walls are a fitting backdrop for the striking selection of mid century pieces. The Machine Age was an era of skyscrapers and aerodynamics, and clean elegance is reflected in each of the store’s selections.
A Pantone dining set, (not suitable for nudists), is a stunning example of… Continue

Monday night saw the opening of The Roy Public House
, which now occupies the space once known as Kubo Radio. Kubo Radio offered the best lychee martinis west of the Prime Meridian, so The Roy really had an uphill climb to gain my approval.
Generally I'm not a fan of the North American take on the Irish pub. I find I can't distinguish one from the other, and while their intent is to be a social place they often border on vapid.
If you… Continue

I was trying to sleep in this morning because my lovely son decided that he wasn't interested in being asleep from 3 to 4 a.m. I contemplated just leaving him in crib to figure it out on his own, but like the sucker that I am, I sat in his room with him while he giggled at his mobile. He eventually dozed off at about 4:15, only to wake up crying about 10 minutes later. Maybe he had a nightmare (can three and a half month old babies have nightmares?), or maybe he was staging a protest of some… Continue

Wow...can't believe that I've been so neglectful in writing any new posts. Didn't realize until right now that it's been a full month since I've blogged.
It's been a busy month. B has been growing and changing faster than I can keep up. He's sitting on my lap as I type this, and I can actually type with both hands! I just have to keep him between my arms, to offer him stability, but he can mostly keep his head up without any assitance. He's fascinated by the computer screen. I'm sure… Continue

Years ago I had an idea to open a small restaurant in Toronto serving nothing but grilled cheese of many varieties. Ok, it wasn't exactly MY idea; I stole it from this place in New York - The Grilled Cheese
but I thought it would work here in Toronto. I don't think there really is such a thing as an original idea anyways. Did Leonardo DaVinci actually invent the helicopter? I think I made my point.
Seriously, who… Continue

1107 Queen St East
Spending time at Winkel is like raiding your favorite Auntie’s attic, especially if that Auntie happens to be hip, tasteful, and likes to have a good laugh.
From it’s lively collection of vintage dishware, to mildly inappropriate greeting cards, Winkel’s stock changes constantly. On any day you may find a wagon wheel table, pretty pink pottery, or lobster claw saltshakers. A set of kitchen chairs hangs on the wall, while further back, a… Continue

Hello fellow gardeners,
March has finally arrived and even though it doesn't feel like it, spring is just around the corner! As I look at my frozen flower beds I can't help but pray to the garden goddess - Mother Nature herself to please, please let the cold be gone and the snow be but a distant memory! Last Friday morning was a cruel joke. However on a positive note, as I was out and about that day I noticed a couple of yards with bulbs sprouting up. As these were most likely crocus… Continue

Hello Leslieviller friends!
It's the Soft Mechanic here, aka Michelle Yee RMT, writing to introduce myself and let you know that I'm looking forward to seeing you at my new office, just east of Pape and Queen, for a well-deserved "Spring Tune-up". I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels like my shoulders are permanently stuck up around my ears from hunching into those frigid winter winds!
In private practice since 2002, I've had… Continue
