It seems like I've been so busy in the kitchen, that regular posting has suffered a wee bit. I'm here to make amends and sing the praises of feeding your soul, and your belly, through the creative act of cooking (if you're into that sort of thing!). As I'm sure you've noticed, local produce is in abundance at farmer's markets, grocery stores, and even the softmechanic garden. In the spring, I recall planting my puny heirloom tomato seedlings and…

I briefly had an announcement up saying we were moving to the Roy, but there was an outcry to remain at Stratengers for one more week.
So, Patio Club remains outdoors for one more week. See you at Stratengers at 2:00!

Well, the warm sunny weather seems to be passing us by, and it's now officially fall. We've got plenty of Harvest decorations - wheat sheaves, straw bales, gourds and Indian corn, not to mention a wide variety of indoor potted plants, and our best selection yet of fresh cut flowers. Why not come on down and check us out if you haven't been in yet? This week, we've got beautiful potted agapanthus for $12.99, fantastic long stem roses for only $1.50 per stem, and a great selection of glads,…

Hi, not JUST for leslievillers, but it does affect you here and all of us in Canada.
I consider Sales Taxes on used goods an evil blight on the entire system where people are trying to recycle and re-use more daily.
We, in Canada, are in midst of instituting a new HST (harmonized sales tax) system, and have a great opportunity to highlight the fact that antiques, vintage, salvage and USED goods should be exempt from sales taxes, cross-country.
This applies to…

I have always been envious of people who can start a conversation with just about anyone. There are those who, in addition to the gift of gab, also have the ability to ask really great questions, draw out answers you didn't even think you had in you, and make you feel like you've been
truly heard. Do you remember the last time you felt that way around someone? Those people leave me feeling awestruck and even a little teary-eyed (in…

Having now been open for almost three weeks, I wanted to comment on the exceptionally warm reception we've received from the neighbourhood. Not that this is a surprise, being 6 year Leslieville residents ourselves, but the number of good wishes, and 'finally - a flower shop in the neighbourhood' we've heard have only reinforced in us the belief that we have chosen the right location to start our business.
For those who have yet to stop by our humble little shop, we encourage you to…

I don't know if summer is coming or going these days, what with the weather we're having in Toronto. Today, the sky is blue, the sun is shining and I'm voting for summer to stay a little while longer.
After my last post about staying well watered before (and after) a treatment, I thought I'd bust out this very loose formula to brighten up nature's finest. Having worked at a spa for a few years, I have seen how a lowly pitcher of tap…

We're happy to announce some new products to enjoy both in our cafe or take home/away for all your family and friends to enjoy.
FIRST, we're excited to be sharing our "take-home" freezer space with the ladies from Yogalicious who have created a delicious "alternative" all-natural frozen dessert from kefir--it is an absolute DELICIOUS alternative to ice cream and uses a "diabetic-friendly" sweetener. Come on by and try some this weekend and pick up a pint to take home! Then, start ordering…
