Wow...can't believe that I've been so neglectful in writing any new posts. Didn't realize until right now that it's been a full month since I've blogged.
It's been a busy month. B has been growing and changing faster than I can keep up. He's sitting on my lap as I type this, and I can actually type with both hands! I just have to keep him between my arms, to offer him stability, but he can mostly keep his head up without any assitance. He's fascinated by the computer screen. I'm sure that it helps that we're listening to Raffi...even if he's in a precarious mood, as soon as I put on Raffi he becomes more animated, and starts batting his arms around or, in this case, hitting his hands against either my arm or the desk.
Other than singing and dancing around the house, we've continued going to the Library for baby story time (although it ended last Monday), and we've been attending weekly Jump Start sessions at the South Riverdale Community Health Centre http://www.srchc.ca/. Each week the moms take part in a discussion/information session on a range of topics, like environmental safety in the home, when and how to introduce solids, and reading to your little one. While this is going on, the babies are in the adjoined room being looked after by childcare workers - but still within hearing range in case the wee babe needs his/her mommy!
One thing I haven't done yet is check out the Ontario Early Years Centres in the area - there are a few within easy walking distance, including one at Jones and Gerrard and another on Woodfield, just north of Queen St. For those of you who are interested, here are a couple links with the locations in this area. Each location has different hours, and different activities.

Also this week, I'll be signing up for a couple activities that start at the end of the month, through the city of Toronto Fun Guide. (http://www.toronto.ca/parks/torontofun/). Registration for our area starts on Wednesday, March 11. I'm likely going to sign us up for yoga.
The past month has been a blur. There are days when we don't leave the house (like today). Occasionally it's because the weather is too miserable, but most of the time it's because between the napping, feeding and playtime, the day just gets away from us. After two months of having a horrible time getting him to sleep, Brendan had finally hit his stride and was napping like a champ during the day, and sleeping longer and longer stretches at night.
That lasted about three weeks. Then, about three weeks ago, it was like a switch went on in his mind and my little guy was finally noticing everything around him, and was truly fascinated - to the point that falling asleep became nearly impossible. We went back to him sleeping in my arms throughout the day (which is part of the reason for the lag between my posts!) If he wouldn't fall asleep in my arms, I'd have to bring him for a walk in his stroller.
The other day, nothing worked - he didn't fall asleep in the car when we went for a long drive, he barely dozed off while being pushed around in the stroller, and no amount of cuddling or rocking in a dark room could make him fall asleep. Despite obvious signs of fatigue, other than a couple 10 minute cat naps, he was awake from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Made for a very, very long day for both me and the hubby.
Today, though, he's back to his routine. As I type he is in his bed, asleep. I had to take a break from writing this to put him down (he was getting fussy, no longer amused by Raffi, the first true sign that he's tired.) If all goes well, he'll be asleep for another hour. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
