CBC interview & article re: proposed TTC streetcar yard
In response to the CBC interview this morning on Radio One (with Liako), as well as the follow-up web-based article, we want to set the record straight. What was reported by CBC was a greatly distorted quote. What Liako said to the reporter was:"We (Red Rocket Coffee) want to be an anchor in the neighborhood". CBC, by omitting the 2 words "to be", created a gross misrepresentation of Liako's words, suggesting that the TTC yard is the anchor.
We want to assure our community, in which we both reside, that Red Rocket Coffee supports the community and neighbourhood as a whole, livable, functional environment. CBC's implication that we support the addition of another streetcard yard just to increase business is simply untrue.
We hope that you understand our frustration with the the manner in which the subject matter was reported. If you have any further questions or comments, please don't hesitate to come by the store to speak with us in person. At least you'll get the whole story right from the horse's mouth.

Hello,
I'm new to this discussion, my name is Jackie O'Keefe and I am Dara Gellman's partner. I would like everyone to know that I saw surveyors at the bottom of my street, Winnifred Avenue, appearing to set up across the street where the "potential" site is to be located. It appears to me that this is a fete accompli.....forgive the spelling, which indicates to me that this was in the works long before the big box court battle ended.

I also thought the quote was odd. Glad to give you a platform to set the record straight. Out of curiosity, I'd be interested to hear your perspective on noise levels and visual distraction from the existing TTC yard so close to your location.

Very happy to read your post. I have to admit I was quite surprised when I read that comment on the CBC website this morning. Unfortunately, even our national broadcaster is not immune from sensationalistic news reporting.
I'm all for the TTC, I just don't understand why they would consider building a second railayrd in the same neighborhood.
