This blog post is not about political parties, candidates or political platforms.

It's about VOTING.  Yep...the right we have to select our next government.

Out of 23.6 million potential voters in the last election only 5.2 million voted Conservative.

That's only 22% of the eligible voters.

There are about 5.6 million eligible voters 18-29 who for the most part did NOT vote.

The Leslieviller has a lot of members who fall into the 18-29 year old bracket.  In today's multimedia world I hear more young Canadians talking about the election.  I think they're  informed and asking questions more than I have ever heard.

May 2 2011 will define Canada for many years to come.

Please don't forget to vote.  It's time ALL of Canada votes.  For once it would be refreshing to have a government the majority of all Canadians elected.

Good point about PR, other countries such as Germany who have it, have not seen the world come to an end because of PR. One interesting point, in Germany their 2 main parties the Christian and Social Democrats have in the past, had to form a Grand Coalition in order to govern. The equivalent here would be the Tories and Liberals joining forces if necessary. Another breathtaking event happened recently, in Baden-Wuttenberg, a state in the southwest part of the country by France and Switzerland, the Green Party won the state election and assumed power. This is not a bid deal there as the Greens had been a coalition partner at the federal level. Last time I checked, the country seemed stable and is still an economic superpower. It seems that PR is a viable option, it works elsewhere.

It is very important that we all vote; but to get a government that the majority of all Canadians elected we need proportional representation.  No idea why more people didn't support it in Ontario...
