When I started FITMOM 12 years ago I lacked community and felt like crap about myself. As a single mom I felt like an outsider. Once running FITMOM I came to learn that many women felt the same way I did even in happy marriages.  The truth is North American society lacks community. At risk of sounding like the poster child for people who like Leslieville I have to say again it is my little piece of heaven. I think I feel the need to talk about it because I hope it never changes but only gets better. I think the values of many people who have chosen to make this hip hood their home are cutting edge, community centered,natural living folks who want to get back to basics within the context of their crazy urban lives.

I have yet to spend a summer here yet but I am counting down the days... I am sure there is lots to do in the winter months but since I just went AWOL from my 2 year attempt to live in Edmonton , Alberta I certainly don't care when and if the snow comes(i have had more than my share). I look forward to the sun beaming down on my face as the boys and I walk to the skateboard park to annoy the teenagers with our presence with our less than expert skateboarding technique and checking out what all the fuss is about at the Burger Joint "Burger Priest" that resembles a night club with its long line ups. I will again enjoy a MOMMYS night out with the ladys at Curzon and Lola Bar and get to know even more of my neighbors.

I will for now have to do my neighborly winter duties and get my hat and mitts on (well today a rain coat ) and get my shiny "holiday" lights up(never hurts to be PC its just considerate) . I will also answer the call to check out that very nice looking Italian restaurant on Queen by the LCBO...perhaps a date is in order.
