Hello!
I had the opportunity to attend a 5 hour Introduction to Thai Yoga Massage course at the Still Light Centre (276 Carlaw) this past Saturday and wanted to share with everyone here how awesome it was. I highly, HIGHLY recommend it.
The class I went to is an introductory course to a 20 minute sequence that you and a partner learn together, or you can go on your own and pair up with another solo person there, which is what I did. If you're good at making fast friends I recommend doing this if you don't have someone to go with/they can't attend with you.
The whole premise behind the massage is to learn to enjoy giving one as much as recieving one, and I can honestly say that this was the first 20 minute massage I had ever given that was enjoyable, relaxing for me (as the giver) AND felt like it was only 5 minutes. It's an amazing experience to actually enjoy giving a massage more than wanting to get one :)
Shai, one of the owners of the school/centre is an amazing, patient and funny teacher and was great at walking around and making adjustments and suggestions to people to maximize their ability to massage. The 5 hour course flew by and really ignited an interest in me (I think in most of the class) to go right home and keep practicing.
They have longer courses for certification which I think I will be doing in the next year, that is how much I liked it. I really can't say enough good things about this experience and recommend it to anyone who wants to learn how to give a great massage while actually enjoying the whole process!
