Thanks for the question, Terry. We previously had all new discussions posting to the main activity feed. It soon became cluttered with people posting all sorts of self-promotional spammy threads just to get visibility before moderators could delete them.

It was then that we moved to posting discussion replies, which was a better indicator of legit discussion topics. Granted, it was at the expense of giving better visibility to those new legitimate discussion posts.

I'm happy to try again, and have reconfigured the activity feed to include new discussions. Let's see how it goes.

Along the lines of snapping photos of scammers, did you ever hear about the women in New York who were harassed by subway perverts a few years ago? One of them started a website where women could post cell phone photos they snapped of subway pervs. The last I heard, the number of indecent acts on NYC's transit system went way down.
